Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult
Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences
degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen
Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with
the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in
seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma
and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will develop a strong agronomy program and teach current and future students
to meet these demands. The instructor will engage in a variety of learning support and instructional
practices and mentoring of students in agronomy and horticulture. The instructional focus is crop and
food production as well as coaching the crops judging and soils judging teams. The candidate will be
tasked with student advising, course development, and instructing students (in the classroom,
laboratory, and small group settings) on the basic study of Agronomy, including crop production science
and soil science, to meet the requirements of an Associate of Science and/or transfer program. Duties to
also include operating on campus greenhouses, growing tunnels, and outdoor growing areas, precision
Agriculture, development and establishment of plant growth activities, practicum/ internship courses.
Some travel is required. Faculty is expected to demonstrate and maintain competence throughout their
employment at the college.

Qualifications
Master’s degree required. Previous teaching instruction in community college or secondary education
preferred.
